Volunteering at Jenkins Institute

Contact us at 843-744-1771 ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) if you wish to volunteer, make a donation, schedule an event, or schedule an activity with the residents at Jenkins.

State Law and DSS regulations require us to run a background check (SLED and Central Registry - $8 each) on anyone that will have routine (daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly) contact with our residents. Upon completion of your volunteer application you will be required to bring in two money orders for the processing fee.  A TB skin test will be required annually.

Non-routine contacts with residents (occasional) are allowed, but must be supervised. Due to the fact that we may have to schedule extra staff to supervise events that include residents, we need as much prior notice as possible. We occasionally have to cancel scheduled events for the same reasons.
